Reebok Pump 20th Anniversary Party
November 21, 2009 by stephaniehoff
Last night Hip Hop Roll was at the Reebok Pump 20th Anniversary Party in Toronto. A slew of the cities finest packed into the Red Bull Gallery on Queen Street to celebrate The Pump. Reebok pulled out all stops staging the turntable stylings of Kid Koala and the Chocolate Boy Wonder himself Pete Rock.

The second floor loft space housed a gallery of vintage Pumps. Our friends at Stolen Riches were the only Canadian retailer to collaborate with Reebok on a limited edition shoe. The grey pinstriped, teflon treated Pump was designed to withstand Canadian winters and was on display along with each of the other worldwide collaborations.
Reebok screened a short film on the history of the sneaker earlier in the evening then kicked off the party with a local DJ. The event was bubbling by the time Kid Koala came on as people crowded around the stage to watch him work. With free refreshments flowing, the place packed, you could feel the anticipation as Pete Rock stepped up to the decks just before midnight.

This Kid Koala video is tight. I never really understood the hype until I saw his hands move at the Pump party, unreal.
