Mary J. Blige Starts Foundation for Women

May 10, 2008 by Jyle

Hip hop veteran, Mary J. Blige has been extremely successful with her career and now wants to help other women do well in life as well. Mary J. Blige and Steve Stoute created a foundation dedicated to giving women career skills and opportunities. The charity is called the Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now, and will concentrate mostly on the Yonkers, New York area first because it is home to Blige.

The foundation plans to fund scholarships, grants and programs that help women gain confidence and skills to succeed in their careers. Blige and Stoute say that they plan on working on the New York area and then to the whole nation.

Good for them! That sounds like a great idea.

Above is the video for Mary’s “Be Without You“.
