Janet Jackson Leaving Record Label
People is reporting that singer, Janet Jackson, will be leaving her record label, Island Records.
Her rep said, “At her request, the record label has agreed to dissolve their working relationship. Now more than 20 years after the release of her iconic album, Control, Janet will have autonomy over her career, without the restrictions of a label system.”
The 42-year-old singer felt that she wasn’t being promoted properly and that not much was done to increase the sales for her latest released album. I agree with her. It’s a shame, really.

The Return Of The Brooklyn Record Riot this Sunday at Warsaw!!!
With major labels now re-releasing vinyl albums by The Beatles and
Jimi Hendrix, records continue to be in the news. The debut of the
Brooklyn Record Riot!!! in late June was a smashing success, and now
it returns this Sunday, September 28th, again bringing together over
40 hand-picked, vinyl dealers from up and down the east coast. Scads
of music customers from the five boros and beyond feasted on great
records and delicious Polish food courtesy of Warsaw. “We couldn’t
have asked for a better debut.” says show promoter Steve Gritzan.
“Dealers and customers had a ball and wanted immediate info on the
next show.” adds co-promoter John Bastone. “We are also pleased that
we will have ten dealers who were NOT at the first show.” Ten DJs,
including Phast Phreddie, will provide the sounds, dealers will dish
out cheap (and expensive) LPs and 45s of all stripes, the mood should
be festive. BRR sponsors three shows a year and Warsaw will again
provide food and Polish beer. Portable turntables are encouraged for
the fanatical. Leave all i-pods at the door.
Sunday September 28th, Warsaw, 261 Driggs Ave, Brooklyn, 11am-8pm,
$3.00 regular admission, $20.00 early admission (9-11am) More info:
