Community Mourns Loss of Donda West

The hip-hop community is mourning with Kanye West for the tragic loss of his mother, Donda West. The mother, manager, professor of English literature, died yesterday of surgery complications.

West helped manage her son’s businesses and educational foundation after retiring in 2004 after 30 years as an English professor at Chicago State University. She died Saturday night at Centinela Freeman Hospital in seaside Marina del Rey.

Our hearts go out to the West family.
