I Wanna Rock… Jay-Z and additional RMX’s

Well then, a day has passed since I heard the Busta Rhymes version of Snoop Dogg’s single I Wanna Rock (which I am still bumping). The thing is, I came across another one featuring Jay-Z which is the official remix that will be on Snoop’s re-release album entitled More Malice.  Then, after that, I came across A TON of others. It appears many rappers have decided upon themselves to record unofficial tracks with the Doggfather (not that there’s anything wrong with that).  A quick internet search will find versions with Young Jeezy, Fat Joe, Raekwon, Lloyd Banks, Kardinal Offishall, Bow …read more

Ghostface Killah – Wizard of Poetry

Ghostface Killah – Wizard of Poetry

A lot of people hate on Ghost’s newest album, Ghostdini: The Wizard of Poetry in Emerald City. I’m a girl so obviously I love when rap and R&B come together to make those catchy jams. I don’t care what anyone says, this record is god. Hate it or love it if there is anyone in the game that can make an R&B album hype it’s the Wallaby Champ.
Here’s Ghost saying “If you love me, you gonna love me regardless” and more on Wizard of Poetry.

Wu-Tang Wednesday: Wu-Tang Forever (1997)

In ‘97 I was 12. I remember getting a drive home after basketball practice by a friends older bro. He was listening to Wu-Tang Forever and like magic my music training wheels fell off and I was the fastest transformed Wu-Tang fan. My brother didn’t want me to listen to it because of the errr ‘rough’ content and my parents were no different.
Despite all that I went out and bought Wu-Tang Forever which is hands down my all time fave Wu-Tang album! Even though I was young and didn’t know much about hip-hop I recognized that these homies were gurus, …read more

Wu Tang Wednesday: “Gravel Pit”

Wu Tang Wednesday: “Gravel Pit”

I am kind of a history buff so this music video seemed a bit crazy. It was 2001 and the Wu Tang Clan were already an established hip-hop group. Old Dirty Bastard was behind bars for violating the conditions of his parole, but the group continued and released The W album in 2001. One of the tracks was “Gravel Pit” chronicling the Wu Tang Clans journey to 2,000,000 B.C.

Wu-Tang Wednesday: Wu-Tang’s RZA Wants To Be A Film Director – Interview

Being a Grammy award winning artist and music director might not qualify him as a movie director, but RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan disagrees.

In an interview with ShockHound RZA revealed that he would like to do more in the film industry.
“Producing an album, I think like a movie director anyway. When I was making all those albums at the beginning of our careers, I was making a one-hour movie that you put in your CD player when driving in your car.”

I mean he has a point. Making a good album means telling a story that can be followed through …read more
