Warm Up: 002
January 29, 2010 by stephaniehoff
Still cold?
Think back to A Long Hot Summer in 2004 and run out to grab this by Masta Ace. The highly acclaimed concept/ follow up album to 2001’s Disposable Arts. Pump this under your hat and instead of walking through a snow storm you’ll be following Ace and Fats Belvedere through Brooklyn in the heat.
Or you can stay in where it’s warm and buy it here.

Flashback Friday: "Gangsta’s Paradise"
October 31, 2008 by Jyle
Remember Coolio’s single "Gangsta’s Paradise" from the Dangerous Minds soundtrack? EVERYONE knew this song and Coolio became a household name.
Looking back at this video, though, cracked me up because it’s so cheesy and over-the-top. Having Michelle Pfeiffer sit in front of Coolio while he overacts almost seems mean. I would be on the floor laughing if I was her. Oh well. It worked at the time…

Flashback Friday: MC Hammer "U Can’t Touch This" – Video
July 25, 2008 by Jyle
Time for a flashback! This week’s pick for Flashback Friday is MC Hammer’s “U Can’t Touch This” video. Who doesn’t love it? I know y’all just want to get up and put your Hammer Pants on. With the sampled beat of Rick James‘ hit “Super Freak” and the fun dance moves, it was simply irresistible. I had to put the video up. People loved this song so much that MC’s album “Please Hammer Don’t Hurt ‘Em” sold over 10 million copies. Enjoy your flashback!

Flashback Friday: Bell Biv Devoe "Do Me"
April 18, 2008 by Jyle
I saw Boyz II Men on Don’t Forget the Lyrics the other day and it got me thinking about the “East Coast Family.” Yeah… remember that? Boyz II Men, Another Bad Creation and Bell Biv Devoe – gotta love the early 90s. Anyway, in honor of that, I’m putting up BBD’s “Do Me.”

Flashback Friday: Vanilla Ice – Ice Ice Baby
April 11, 2008 by Jyle
Well, I wasn’t going to put this up but considering the fact that Vanilla Ice was arrested (and released). What was the erstwhile Robert Van Winkle arrested for? Domestic battery. So, now he can’t have any contact with his wife, Laura, except over the phone.
Oh well. In the meantime, here’s his big hit “Ice Ice Baby“
Just for fun, here’s the clip of Jim Carrey pretending to be Vanilla Ice in that In Living Color skit “White, White Baby.” I still crack up.

March 28, 2008 by Jyle
It’s Flashback Friday time again and I’m putting up one of my favorite songs from the 80s. I think it is one of the best hip-hop songs of all time. Here’s Rob Base and DJ Easy Rock with 1988’s “It Takes Two.”
Have a great weekend!
