The Game

Jayceon Taylor was born on November 29, 1979 in Los Angeles, California. His mother Lynette Baker, was African American, and his father George Taylor, who was of Spanish and Native American descent. He grew up in the district of La Brea before his family moved to Compton, California when he was four years old. When Taylor was five his older sister accused his father of sexual abuse. His parents divorced and Taylor went to live with a foster family for eight years in Carson, a suburb of Los Angeles (located immediately southwest of Compton). When Taylor was thirteen, his mother won custody and he was allowed to reunited with his family in Compton. He spent his later life living in a Crip gang neighborhood called the Santana Blocc, although he grew up becoming a member of the Bloods. Taylor later claimed that his mother and father were both affiliated with the Crip gangs. After graduating from Compton High School, Taylor got accepted into Washington State University on a basketball scholarship. However, he was kicked out during his first semester because of drug allegations. After getting kicked out of university he fell beck to life on the streets, hustling and selling drugs. When he was eighteen, he began to follow his older half brother around, “Big Fase 100″, who was the leader of the gang Cedar Block Pirus. During a drug trade things went bad for Taylor and was shot five times in 2001. He received a bullet wounds to the heart, stomach, arms, and leg. Taylor lay in a coma for three days. During his slow recovery at the hospital Taylor made the decision to pursue a career in the rap industry.
